Five Spice

Things you need:

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 0g fennel seed

  • 5g cloves

  • 10g Szechuan peppercorn

  • 6 star anise

Steps:

  • Toast spices in a skillet, for a few mins over a medium heat. Don’t burn them, just release their natural flavors.

  • Put all ingredients into a spice grinder and blitz until you have fine powder.

  • Pass through a sieve to make sure no spice chunks are present in the final mix.

  • Store in an airtight container.

Tips:

  • This keeps for months in your pantry but you want the spice mix to be fresh so make enough to last you a little while.
